The many service improvements resulting from the re-construction and expansion include:

- room to house a greater variety of material
- more comfortable study, reading and conversation spaces
- more spacious, better appointed programming rooms
- more Internet stations
- a seniors' lounge
- a local history room
- small group study rooms
- and courtesy of the Friends of the Library, a double-sided fireplace

In addition, the facility will be universally accessible and will incorporate state-of-the-art 'green technology'.
